How does Positive Behaviour Support work in schools?

More than just a set of behaviour policies, PBS represents a proactive, whole-school approach to creating environments where positive behaviours naturally flourish. 

Instead of reacting to challenges after they arise, PBS focuses on prevention, clear expectations, and consistent reinforcement. This can mean introducing reward systems, making small environmental tweaks, and giving staff the tools to respond effectively to a range of situations.

No – often, Positive Behaviour Support is just one part of the picture. We offer a broad range of evidence-based services, from safeguarding audits and staff wellbeing programmes to leadership training and whole-school culture development. 

For us, PBS sits alongside these other areas – not above them – because real, lasting change usually comes from addressing multiple elements of school life at once.

We work with mainstream primary and secondary schools, special educational needs (SEN) settings, alternative provision, and early years environments. 

Whether your school is large or small, urban or rural, our approach adapts to your community, resources, and priorities. Many of our long-term partnerships are with schools navigating complex challenges, and we also help well-performing schools go from ‘good’ to ‘exceptional.’
